Our establishment has an autocomposer that transforms the 50% from all the organic waste generated by the hotel into compost, which is later used to nurture 5,000 square meters of gardens. It is the first and only hotel in the Canary Islands that has this technology.
The installation and start-up of this autocomposer has also been the result of an agreement reached with the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and the waste management company Valoriza.
The aforementioned machine, of Swedish technology BigHanna, processes about 40 kilos a day, approximately 1,200 kilos a month, and the complete cycle of transformation of the waste into compost lasts about three weeks.
It is a completely natural process that does not contain any external additives, but is based on the fermentation of the products themselves. Hotel Tigaiga - fostering sustainable change
